Full-Service Interior Design means different things to different studios, which can make it difficult to understand exactly what you are appointing a designer to do.

At Aoife Maria Interiors, it describes a more comprehensive level of involvement, from the early design of the interior through to procurement, installation and final styling, depending on the project.

This can apply to one important room, several connected spaces or an entire home.

What is included in Full-Service Interior Design?

The exact scope depends on the project, but Full-Service Interior Design can include space planning, interior architecture, kitchens, bathrooms, bespoke joinery, lighting, materials, finishes, furniture, artwork, textiles, procurement and installation.

The aim is to look at the interior as a whole rather than making each decision in isolation.

Does Full-Service Interior Design include space planning?

Yes. We begin by understanding the property and the people who will live there.

Before looking at individual pieces of furniture, we consider the architecture, proportions, natural light, circulation and how adjoining spaces relate to one another.

Depending on the project, this may involve reviewing architectural plans, developing furniture layouts or making adjustments to improve how the home functions.

Does Full-Service Interior Design include kitchens, bathrooms and bespoke joinery?

It can. We can develop kitchen and bathroom layouts, bespoke cabinetry, wardrobes, media units, window seats, libraries and other custom pieces.

These elements need to work with the wider architecture, lighting, electrical positions, appliances, flooring and furniture, rather than being designed separately.

Does a full-service interior designer select furniture and finishes?

Yes. This can include flooring, stone, tiles, paint, sanitaryware, brassware, decorative lighting, furniture, rugs, artwork, window treatments and accessories.

Rather than selecting each item independently, we look at how the materials, furniture and finishes work together throughout the home.

Does Full-Service Interior Design include procurement and installation?

Where we are appointed to manage procurement, yes.

The studio can coordinate ordering, supplier communication, deliveries and installation through to the final styling of the home.

For clients who do not have the time or desire to manage multiple suppliers, orders and deliveries themselves, this can remove a significant amount of administration from the project.

Is Full-Service Interior Design only for whole homes?

No. Full Service is about the level of design support required, rather than simply the size of the project.

A kitchen, principal suite or reception room can involve considerable interior architecture, joinery, lighting, furniture and procurement.

Equally, we can work across an entire property from the earliest planning stages through to final installation.
